Our story
Historyteller is Fernando Brites passion project, born from his lifelong love for Portuguese and international history and culture. For years, Fernando worked as a Mechanical Engineer, a career where the main goal was often just a steady, well-paid job, rather than genuine personal fulfillment.
In 2024, he decided it was time for a change. He left his job to explore his interests and find his true calling. It was during this time that the idea for Historyteller emerged. It was a chance to embrace his lifelong passion for history and his belief that the best way to share it is through engaging stories.
With Historyteller, our aim is to create captivating historical narratives around Portugal’s iconic places. We noticed that some guided tours perhaps lacked a bit of depth, and we wanted to offer something more. So, we strive to give you a truly authentic and in-depth experience with our tours.
Philosophy
Our philosophy is centered on the transformative power of storytelling. We believe that the past is a living source of knowledge and wisdom, and that it is best shared through the compelling stories of the people and events that shaped it. At Historyteller, we dedicate ourselves to meticulously and extensively researching events to craft these stories, transforming them into immersive experiences rather than just a recitation of facts. Our goal is to spark the imagination of those who accompany us on our tours, fostering a deeper understanding of the cultural richness of Portugal’s heritage.
Our guides are liberated storytellers, committed to modernity and cultural sensitivity. As guides, we strive to create informative and engaging tours, encouraging curiosity and dialogue, while honoring the integrity of historic sites. We aim to make history accessible, relatable and deeply meaningful to each and every tour participant.
Historyteller’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that understanding the rich history of our present can help us face the future. Through narratives, we aim to provide visitors with a deeper appreciation of Portugal and its history.”
